My short link is not working
Work out why a short link shows an error, and what to change. Covers disabled links, expiry, password protection, typos and caching.
Start by opening the short link in a private or incognito window. That rules out your own browser cache, which is the single most common false alarm.
"Not found"
The ending does not match a live link. Usually one of:
- A typo. Check for
lversus1andOversus0, and for a trailing full stop that a chat app has swallowed into the link. - Wrong domain.
uyou.in/menuandgo.yourbrand.com/menuare different links. If you moved to a custom domain, the old link does not follow. - The link was deleted. Endings are never recycled, so a deleted link stays gone.
"This link is no longer active"
The link exists but is switched off. Either you disabled it, or it hit an expiry date you set. Re-enable it, or clear the expiry, from the link's edit screen.
It asks for a password
The link is password protected. Anyone opening it has to enter the password first. If that was not intended, remove the protection; if it was, send the password by a different channel than the link itself.
It goes to the wrong place
- Check the destination on the link's edit screen. It is easy to paste a staging URL.
- Check targeting rules. A link with device or country rules sends different people to different destinations by design — see Send people to different places by device or country.
- Check for a redirect at the other end. If the destination itself redirects, your link is working and the destination is the problem.
The QR code fails but the link works
That is a scanning problem, not a link problem. Work through QR code not scanning.
The custom domain stopped resolving
If links on your own domain fail while uyou.in links work, the DNS record is the place to look. A record that was removed or changed during an unrelated migration is the usual cause.

The ending cannot be reused, so the original link cannot be restored. Create a new link and update wherever it was shared.
Why does my link work for me but not for someone else?
Check targeting rules and expiry. A link with device or country rules can legitimately send two people to different places.
How long until a change takes effect?
Changes apply immediately, but a browser that already followed the link may have cached the redirect. Test in a private window.
