Change where a short link points
Update the destination of a short link that is already shared or printed, without changing the link itself or the QR code that encodes it.
This is the reason short links are worth using for anything printed. The address on the poster stays the same; where it leads is a setting you can change.
Editing
- Open the link from your dashboard.
- Change the destination URL.
- Save.
Anyone who follows the link from that moment goes to the new destination. The short link itself, and any QR code built on it, are untouched.
When this saves you
- A campaign ends. Point the link at something evergreen instead of leaving people on a dead offer page.
- A page moves. A site redesign changes every URL. Your printed links do not have to care.
- A typo goes to print. The wrong destination on 5,000 flyers is a bad afternoon, not a reprint.
- Seasonal reuse. The same table QR code can point at a summer menu and then a winter one.
What you cannot change
The ending. uyou.in/spring stays uyou.in/spring for life. Changing it would break everything already shared, so it is fixed at creation — see Choose your own short code.
The domain. A link created on uyou.in stays there. To move it to your own domain, create a new link.
Edit allowances
Editing destinations is a paid capability and the number of edits per month depends on the plan. This is worth checking before you build a workflow around frequently rotating a link — the pricing page has the current numbers.
Test after editing
Open the link in a private window. Browsers and some apps cache redirects, so your own browser is the least reliable place to confirm a change took effect.
If the link is behind a QR code, scan the printed code rather than trusting the digital file. That confirms the whole chain in one go.
Frequently asked questions
Does the short link change when I edit the destination?
No. The short link and any QR code encoding it stay exactly the same. Only where they lead changes.
How quickly does it take effect?
Immediately. A browser that recently followed the link may still have the old redirect cached, so test in a private window.
Is there a limit on edits?
Yes, edits per month vary by plan. See the pricing page.
