Link in bio for creators
How to structure the one link a social profile gives you, what to put at the top, and how to tell which links are earning their place.
One link, and everything you do behind it. The temptation is to list everything; the thing that works is ruthless editing.
Three to six links, no more
Every extra link makes the others harder to see. A page with a dozen options is a menu people scroll past, not a set of choices they make.
Pick the three to six things you actually want traffic to right now, and archive the rest.
The top slot is the campaign
Most taps go to the first link. Treat it as a rotating billboard rather than a permanent fixture:
- Launch week → the launch
- Tour announced → tickets
- Nothing specific → whatever converts best
Change it when your priority changes. This is the single highest-leverage thing you can do with the page, and it takes ten seconds.
Write labels that promise something
Labels do the persuading. Be specific about what opens:
- "New single — listen on Spotify" beats "Music"
- "Tour dates + tickets" beats "Live"
- "Free preset pack (PDF)" beats "Downloads"
Naming the format matters. People are more willing to tap when they know whether it opens a video, a shop or a document.
Measure it and cut
Look at the page monthly. Links that get almost no taps are not neutral — they push the ones that work further down. Delete them.
The pattern is usually the same: two links do most of the traffic, the rest do very little. Once you know which two, the page more or less writes itself.
Use it off-platform too
The bio page has its own address, so it works anywhere:
- A QR code on merch, packaging or a poster
- The link in a video description
- Your email signature
A QR code pointing at the page means one printed code leads to everything, and you can change what is behind it without reprinting — see How to create a QR code.
Keep it fast
Bio pages are opened on phones, often on mobile data, often for a couple of seconds. A page that takes four seconds to render has already lost a chunk of the traffic you worked for.
Keep the image count low and put the links above the fold.

Frequently asked questions
How many links should a bio page have?
Between three and six. Beyond that, tap rates on everything fall.
Should the top link change?
Yes. Rotate it to whatever you are promoting now. The top slot does most of the work.
Can I track which links get tapped?
Yes, each link reports its own traffic so you can drop the ones nobody uses.
